The situation
An operator with eleven years of experience running machines for a civil contractor started his own business in Western Sydney and won a subcontract on a subdivision. His ABN had been active for four months, he had no company financials, and two mainstream lenders declined on trading history alone. He had a 14-tonne excavator identified at a dealer and a start date three weeks away.
What we did
We built the file around what actually existed rather than what was missing: verified industry experience, a signed subcontract showing the work, a clean personal credit file, home ownership, and a 15% deposit from savings. The asset was new from a recognised dealer, which supported the security position. We placed it with a lender running a new-ABN programme rather than shopping it across the whole panel and collecting enquiries.
The outcome
Approved on a chattel mortgage over 60 months with a modest balloon set so the repayment matched the subcontract's expected monthly return. The machine settled directly with the dealer six business days after the application was lodged, ahead of the site start date. Pricing reflected the new-ABN tier, and we mapped out what twelve months of clean conduct would open up at the next purchase.
Illustrative and anonymised. Outcomes depend on the business, the lender and the assessment at the time. This is not a promise of the same result.
